GIRLS BASKETBALL: Scotts Valley Bounces Back in NorCal Opener

Falcons dominate in first round matchup against Bear Valley; advance to Thursday night's second round.

 Held to a season-low 29 points in last Friday’s 33-29 loss to Notre Dame-Belmont in the Central Coast Section Division IV Girls Basketball Championship Game, the Scotts Valley girls basketball team got back to its bread and butter Tuesday night--hit the glass hard and push the pace.

Scotts Valley did both items extremely well en route to a lopsided 82-48 victory over No. 11 seed Bear Valley in a CIF State Division IV Championship first round game Tuesday night in Scotts Valley.

Freshman Tori McBride led the charge with 22 points.

The Falcons (23-6) will play No. 4 seed Piedmont High Thursday night in second round play. Liz Munger and Nadine Hart each had double-doubles in the win.

Munger scored 20 points and pulled down 15 boards, while freshman Hart had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Junior Natalia Ebrahimian finished with 19 points.

Piedmont (19-12 in regular season play) finished in fifth place in the stacked North Coast Section Bay Shore Division. St Mary’s of Stockton won the league with a perfect 12-0 mark in league play.

The win or go home tussle between Scotts Valley and Piedmont will tip-off at 7 pm Thursday at Piedmont High.
