At 2,600 feet, Muns Vineyard is the highest pinot noir vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains. In this week's Wine Wednesday, Patch's Monique Soltani heads to Muns Vineyard and finds when it comes to making great wines it's all about the vines.

Muns Vineyard does not have a tasting room, however they will host private tastings by appointment.

We really enjoyed talking with Monique and doing this interview with her. This was early in August and the grapes had not started veraison yet (so you are looking at 'green' Pinot). Early in the video you can see a shot looking out over the vineyard towards Monterey Bay, although you cannot see the Bay under the coastal fog. You can see the Monterey peninsula, though, looming up above the cloud cover. This is typical in the summer, with the cool breeze off the coastal fog blowing through the vineyard. And behind us, laying in the dirt, is our little gopher girl, Pinot the Jack Russell Terrier. Our wines are available at specialty wine shops and restaurants in Santa Cruz, Soquel, Aptos, Los Gatos, Palo Alto and elsewhere. Please visit our website for tasting events and more information. And join us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/munsvineyard for updates on the vineyard, events, and our wines. Cheers! - Mary Lindsay & Ed Muns
