Readers' Choice Winner: LightSpeed Martial Arts Academy

When it comes to Martial Arts in Scotts Valley, it is clear that people are as passionate about the studio they go to as they are about the art. There are three Martial Arts studios in Scotts Valley, all special and offering different forms of the art. So whatever you are looking for, you are sure to find it in Scotts Valley. But as with anything, everyone has a favorite.

Receiving 116 votes in the contest, LightSpeed offers classes at every level in the art of Martial Arts, including Tae Kwon Do and Kung Fu. The academy offers classes for children as young as 3 to adults, and there is even a family class where the entire family can learn together. Fitness kickboxing and Pilates are also options at LightSpeed.

Patch reader Saul Berkowitz commented on the contest page that, “LightSpeed is the best Martial Arts gym in Scotts Valley. Period. You won't find a better place for Tae Kwon Do for kids and adults.”

Heather Dunnigan, another Patch reader said, “My son has been at LightSpeed for two years now, we have had the BEST experience there! In fact, I started the adult classes this past October and am loving it as much as he does! All of the instructors and staff are incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, encouraging, supportive, motivating, and just all around good people.”

And reader Julian Jacobson commented, “I love training under Master Salisbury! He is certainly one of the greatest teachers I have had the privilege to learn from. He definitely knows his stuff.

I have seen entire families train and grow under his guidance, and there are very, very few people who can have the wonderful effect he has with kids and adults.”

Reader Sandra Jensen commented about Elite: “Mr. Stone and his team are nothing but absolutely committed to making this academy the best that it can possibly be. He and his family pour their lives into it and it shows! Elite is not only clean and professional but Mr. Stone makes himself available to listen to our needs and desires, too.”

And reader Moises Chavez said, “Mr. Stone is really patient and enthusiastic and my son enjoys the time that he spends training and he has made a lot of new friends. After seeing the change it has made on my son, I decided to join and it's been one of the most rewarding decisions I've made. I enjoy every single class that I attend.”
