Expect a Little Rain Before the Sunny Weekend

With below-average January rainfall, Scotts Valley could use the precipitation.

Trade your sunglasses for rain boots, at least for the next two days.

Light rainstorms—and possibly even a little thunderstorm—are forecasted Thursday and Friday in Scotts Valley, but the wet weather is expected to clear up by the weekend and the chilly, dry, sunny winter days should return, the National Weather Service reported.

Read the complete forecast here.

After torrential downpours in November and December, the beginning of 2013 has been one of the driest on record in Northern California. It's stayed dry because a strong, high-pressure bubble over Northern California and the Pacific has rebuffed storms for the past month, a National Weather Service meteorologist told the San Francisco Chronicle.

The dry spell isn't severe enough to cause worry yet—the Sierra snowpack is still remarkably close to average—but forecasters also said it doesn't look like that high-pressure system is ready to move on yet.

We live off of Scotts Valley Drive. There is a person that drives up and down Scotts Valley DriveRead More quite often. He has a dog that rides in the back of his pickup truck. The dog barks as he is riding and sounds like he is just in heaven going for those rides. We want to tip our hat to this man for being such a good dog parent. We look forward to hearing those barks of excitement for many moons to come. Right on sir! And keep on being the good parent you are.
