Get Out in Scotts Valley: Wine Tasting With the Stars, a 9/11 Tribute and High School Football
The Falcons football team home opener, wine tasting at Skov Winery and a county-wide 9/11 tribute.

Why Go: Meet the cast of characters in Scotts Valley Performing Arts production of "Annie Get Your Gun" at Skov Winery and enjoy wine tasting, light refreshments, western music performed by Mike Larkins and Billy Edgell from the Western Skylarks and grab a few raffle tickets for the upcoming musical, “Annie Get Your Gun,” opening Sept. 30 at the Bethany University Theatre. Come dressed in your best western finery and enter the "Best Western Garb" contest for another chance to win show tickets.

Why Go: At the "Projects for Peace" station, you can record short messages of gratitude to local first responders and decorate mixed media tiles that share your vision for a peaceful Santa Cruz community. Help the event organizers meet their goal to gather over 200 peace tiles from three "Projects for Peace" stations across the county to assemble in a traveling "peacetile mural installation" that will inspire civic engagement and actions to create greater unity and peace.

Why Go: The 29th annual Capitola Art and Wine Festival will feature over 150 fine artists, 20 Santa Cruz Mountain wineries, gourmet food, a children's art area, plus entertainment all day, all weekend long! The event is set in the beautiful, beachside setting of Capitola Village-by-the-Sea.

Why Go: The Scotts Valley High football team returns home for the first time in 2011. The Falcons won their season opener last weekend in Sacramento, defeating Capital Christian, 22-15. The Falcons host Half Moon Bay High this Saturday at Scotts Valley High. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. After the home opener, the Falcons hit the road for three straight weeks before hosting Aptos High on Oct. 8.
