Here's a Los Gatos Home for Less Than $250,000

If peace and quiet is what you need, this 2 bedroom, 2 bath home may be the place you'll hear crows fly overhead.

53 homes with a Los Gatos postal address were sold between October 2011 and October 2012, according to information released this week by Dataquick.

The median price of those homes rose 16.16 percent during the same period, accelerating from $990,000 to a little over a million dollars, at $1,150,000.

But there is hope for the first-time homebuyer, even in an expensive area like our town.

Take this home, now on the market for $249,000. Two bedrooms, two baths; it is a bit tight, with 800 square feet. But lots of fresh air, and probably lots of peace and quiet. The lot it sits on is nearly five acres large.

The home is located up in the Santa Cruz Mountains, but maintains a Los Gatos address, at 30130 Highland Way.

You can find more details of the mobile home at the AOL real estate website.

Well, Ed, How did the Patch find out about this property in the first place? Does the Patch routinely scan real estate listings? I think not, and that someone in the real estate business pointed it out. You are accusing me of making four or five false assumptions, but you do not state what they are. This article is clearly an ad for the house as are your comments. Why did you attack me and my comments and not those of the others who also posted without using their real names? Is it because I (correctly) pointed out that it is a mobile home? "When you resort to attacking the messenger and not the message, you have lost the debate."

Actually, John, I did scan the AOL real estate page to find this story. I was not contacted by the realtor, nor do I know who the realtor is. I went to http://realestate.aol.com/?icid=navbar_realest_maing6 and looked for the least expensive home in Los Gatos, again keeping in mind the news that the Los Gatos median home price is now over $1 million. I wanted to see if there was anything "affordable" within the town, and this is the listing I came across.

I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarification, Dave. Yes, one could consider this home "affordable" assuming one had a 4-wheel drive vehicle to get up and down the dirt driveway and were willing to live in a mobile home with solar-powered batteries, a generator, propane and no PG&E in a location 30 minutes outside of Los Gatos.

Purchasing a Mobile Home can be difficult and should be disclosed, the article did grab my eye because of the low price, then I saw the views, very nice.

I have a question. Why do realtors always put their pictures in the ads?
