Town Center Sales Office Opens for Business

The 46 townhouses at Blue Bonnet Lane will be available for move-in in November.

Scotts Valley’s new Town Center Collection is open for business.

On Saturday, property managers answered questions about the 46 townhomes on Blue Bonnet Lane scheduled for completion in November. A construction crane sat on a hill overlooking the spot where the project broke ground in December.

Two reservations have already been made, said Mary Gradinger, the sales manager for the properties. As of this weekend, residents interested in purchasing one of the townhouses can visit the sales office from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week. The homes start in the $400,000 range.

The townhomes will be organized around a walking thoroughfare, said Gradinger, and share a common area.

Nestled nearby Skypark, they are a prime location for “outdoorsy people” and commuters, Gradinger said.

The properties will be all electric, and receive 50 percent of its power from solar, cutting energy costs in half, said Troy Bevilacqua, a New Homes Account Manager with SunPower.

The energy consumption of each 2.2-kilowatt home can be monitored from anywhere so that “people can modify their consumption habits,” Bevilacqua said, giving an online demonstration.

The land has been available since June 2007, when Santa Cruz developer Bill Brooks purchased the land from the Mormon Church. It was later rezoned to allow 20 residential units per acre, the most allowed under state law.

Grading work for the homes, which range in size from 1,823 - 1,951 square feet, will continue through July, Gradinger said.
