Universal Audio Raises $50,000 for Earthquake Relief Efforts in Japan

Local audio recording product company raises $50,000 to give to the Santa Cruz County Red Cross for their efforts.

Scotts Valley’s Universal Audio has raised $50,000 for earthquake relief efforts in Japan.

Earlier this month, the company handed the Santa Cruz County Red Cross a check that resulted from a joint customer and company fundraising initiative.

“We were really excited about our customers’ willingness to help,” said Amanda Whiting, the communications manager for Universal Audio, a developer of audio recording products. “Because of their generosity, we were able to make the donation.”

During the month of April, the company matched donations for all sales of its UAD Powered Plug-Ins to the Red Cross, adding extra funding to bring the total to $50,000. On June 2, Universal Audio’s President Matt Ward presented a check to Santa Cruz County Red Cross CEO Rita Chick.

The Red Cross is in turn using the money to provide food, shelter and emotional support to those affected by the tsunami and earthquake that struck Japan in March.
