Get Out in Scotts Valley: Library Festivities, Beach Music and Beach Soccer

A Chamber of Commerce mixer, a night of dancing, a grand reopening of the Scotts Valley Library, beach soccer and beach music in Santa Cruz; our suggestions to Get Out in and around Scotts Valley this weekend.

Where/When: 1 Chaminade Lane,  Santa Cruz, Thursday, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. 

Why Go: Come for a night of networking with Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors. Some great happy hour specials, great views and an excellent chance to meet some others in the Scotts Valley business community. Bring a friend.

Where/When: , 4402 Scotts Valley Drive, Friday, 9 p.m. 

Why Go: Time to cut loose a bit and enjoy a night of dancing. And it's good to be able to do so close to home at Malone's. This is a great way to kick off your weekend.

Pricing: No admission charge, just whatever you consume.

Where/When: 251 Kings Village Road, Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Why Go: Celebrate the opening of the new Scotts Valley library. Ribbon-cutting at 11am; then much more, including music, storytellers, a tour of the new place and hot dogs for lunch!

Where/When: , 400 Beach St, Santa Cruz, Friday, 6:30 p.m.

Why Go: It's the kickoff for the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk's free Friday Night Bands summer series. The music will continue until Labor Day weekend! Two shows every Friday and an early bird special at 6:30 p.m., and another at 8:30 p.m.  It's summer and time to listen to the music. 

Pricing: Free

Where/When: , 400 Beach St, Santa Cruz, Saturday, Sunday, all day.

Why Go: The teams are already registered and now it's up the spectators to enjoy the game.  Head out to the Santa Cruz Main Beach to watch the competition with both amateurs and professionals playing. A 13-year-old freestyler named Alli will perform on stage Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Pricing: Free; no charge to watch. Organizers encourage people to carpool to the beach.
