Get Out: Wine, Acting and Bocce Ball

First weekend of the Vintner's Festival, another round of tryouts for 'Annie Get Your Gun,' a Chamber BBQ and bocce ball

Where/When: , 361 Kings Village Rd. Friday, 5:30 p.m.

Why Go: This is the Chamber's way of saying thank you to its members. The Chamber invites its members to be its guest at this annual BBQ. In fact, you can even bring your entire office along. There will be BBQ, fellowship, networking and a bocce tournament.

Where/When: SKOV Winery, 2364 Bean Creek Rd. Saturday, Sunday; 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Why Go: SKOV Winery is one of the numerous Santa Cruz wineries and restaurants participating in Vintner's Festival 2011. Wines from 46 wineries will be featured at 38 locations. The festival is taking place this weekend and next. This weekend, the festival will be happening in Santa Cruz County. Link to the map on the Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association website for all locations.

Pricing: Tickets are redeemed for a commemorative wine glass to be used at each winery visited. Admission is $35 in advance, or $40 at the door.

Where/When: , 800 Bethany Dr. Friday, 6-9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-noon

Why Go: If you would like to do theater, this is your opportunity. Scotts Valley Performing Arts has extended its open auditions. Director Paul Sawyer and musical director Rachel Nachison are casting roles for adult actors (some children's roles are also available) for Irving Berlin’s musical which recounts the life of Annie Oakley (1860–1926), who was a sharpshooter from Ohio, and her husband, Frank Butler.

Why Go: Boot Camp seems to be the rage these days, so why don't you check it out? The experts say this may be one of the best ways to get in shape quickly. And you have to admit, there is something about being outdoors that makes you feel good.

Where/When: , 107 Elm St., Santa Cruz. Friday, 5:30-9 p.m. 

Why Go: This is the fifth exhibit of A Community of Artists. Work will include paintings, photography, prints, mixed media, and video. There will also be a reception to meet the artists. This year the group is holding a raffle of art donated by 16 of the artists to support the Felix Kulpa Gallery. The Community of Artists includes traditional and non-traditional photographers and mixed media artists.
