What: The Scotts Valley Relay For Life will take place on May 19 and there is still time to sign up a team to participate in the 24-hour community walk. All of the funds raised will go to the American Cancer Society to fund cancer research.

Price: Sign your team up before March 31, and it's free. After March 31, registration costs $25.

An Experience with Marilyn

Where/When: , 1 Chaminade Lane, Santa Cruz. Friday, 4-8 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

What: A friend of the United Way of Santa Cruz owns one of the largest private collections of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia—including clothing, documents, and personal effects—and is generously sharing his collection to exhibit for the benefit of the organization before the collection is taken on tour to Europe later in the spring. This is a rare opportunity to glimpse into the personal life of the iconic star.

Roaring Camp Rain Forest Weekends

Where/When: Roaring Camp, 5401 Graham Hill Rd., Felton. Saturday and Sunday, various times.

Why Go: Take an exciting ride on an antique steam train through California’s forest of coastal redwoods. As you sit back and enjoy the
scenery, fascinating information about forest ecology and seasonal changes will be given.

Price: Tickets are $24 for adults and $17 for children, and can be purchased at www.roaringcamp.com.

Where/When: Scotts Valley Library, 251 Kings Village Rd. Saturday, 2-4 p.m.

What: Local poet/teacher Magdalena Montagne will be at the library leading a free writing workshop for the community. In the poetry
circle, students will write new works in a supportive and fun environment. All levels and ages are encouraged to attend.
