Grab and Go Kids Planner: Bryan Stow, James Durbin and Bikes

Two kid-friendly events that are fundraisers for Bryan Stow and his family; a possible performance by James Durbin and two bike week events are our selections for this week's Scotts Valley Kids Planner.

Where/When: Kings Village, 220 Mt. Hermon Rd. Saturday, 1-4 p.m.

Why Go: To show your support for Bryan Stow who remains in a coma after he was attacked in the parking lot of Dodger's Stadium while leaving the Giants-Dodgers opening game in March. The event is to raise money for a special needs trust set up to assist Stow's family. On this day, the shopping center will become a kid-inspired playland with a bounce house, face painting and much, much more.

Why Go: To see some of the top professional cyclists race through the streets of Scotts Valley. On this day, the Scotts Valley Grand Prix presented by Easton-Bell aims to be an entire day of family fun. There will be bike races and activities for the kids, a children's play area, and food and beverages for the adults.

Pricing: Free

Where/When: , 400 Beach St. Saturday, 5 p.m.

Why Go: James Durbin, the Santa Cruz singer who at this writing is one of four finalists on American Idol, will sing at the Boardwalk Saturday night—if he makes the semi-finals on Idol after Wednesday night's show. Durbin will perform with the local band White Album Ensemble, who will also play a set before Durbin hits the stage.

Pricing: Free, but seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Where/When: 119 Center St., Santa Cruz (Depot Park, far west end of Pacific Ave.). Sunday, 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Why Go: This is a fun and safe way to go out for a family bike ride and get to ride the train, too! You can take your bikes on the Roaring Camp Railroads train from Santa Cruz to Felton then ride together down Highway 9 with a CHP escort back to Santa Cruz. And if you get there early, you can take the bike safety class or have your kids take part in the bicycle safety skills obstacle course (that's for children age 4 to 12.) If you like, you can stick around for the fun and fitness fair when you return  at 1:30 p.m

Pricing: $10 adults, $5 children 12 and under.

Where/When: , 1001 Soquel Ave., Santa Cruz. Sunday, noon-3 p.m.

Why Go: This festival is the culmination of Bike Week in Santa Cruz County. The emphasis is on bikes, of course, but don't forget about the food, music, prizes, and whoops, and we almost forgot, a 2HIP BMX Stunt Show.

Pricing: Free
