It's a Victorian Christmas

Scotts Valley Performing Arts is hosting a Christmas benefit the Victorian way.

Take a step back in time and celebrate the holiday season a different way this year at the Scotts Valley Performing Arts’ Victorian Christmas Benefit.

The theatrical dinner on Dec. 9 is a fundraiser for the organization and will support its 2012 Youth Shakespeare production of Romeo and Juliet and the 2012 fall musical production. Funds raised will also be used to support local school enrichment programs, such as the SVPA’s expansion of its three-year school outreach program in 2012 to include a program for elementary schools called Art and Poetry in Motion.

The Victorian dinner will include roasted fowl, sumptuous beef, winter vegetables, fresh greens, plum pudding and stuffing. A vegetarian option will also be offered, and dessert will be an array of sweets donated by local merchants.

In addition to the theatrical dinner performances, there will be live and silent auctions. Some of the items up for grabs include two cases of GolferAid, a basket of goodies from Cam's Hair Salon, a sea star necklace from William Clayton Green, a basket of soaps and lotions, a house rental in Tahoe, a dinner for 20 at a beach house in Rio Del Mar, and a $40 gift certificate to Chocolate Visions.

The SVPA’s Victorian Christmas is on Dec. 9 at the Scotts Valley Community Center, 360 Kings Village Road from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $50 in advance or $55 at the door. Tickets can be purchased online at www.svpaa.org.
