Scotts Valley Performing Arts Gears Up for an Evening of Cabaret

SVPA's fifth-annual fundraiser will be an evening full of song and dance.

Some of the best talent in Santa Cruz County will come together for an evening of song, dance and laughter.

Scotts Valley Performing Arts is gearing up to present its fifth-annual Broadway Cabaret on Saturday at the Louden Nelson Auditorium, 301 Center St., in Santa Cruz.

The annual fundraiser event is directed by Bari Miller and will highlight musical numbers from some of Broadway’s most-beloved shows. Some of the area’s top performers, such as Andrew Ceglio, Ariel Buck, Brie Michaud and Christina Cree of the Cabrillo stage, will be featured. Also appearing will be Lee Peterson and Sandi Stollencamp from the Santa Cruz Follies, and from SVPA, Joyce Michaelson, Karen Stebbins and Cindy Gorski.

The show will also feature performances from the talented youngsters of SVPA’s Youth Shakespeare program.

Musical direction is from Drew Lewis, and the show will be hosted by Ray Gorski and Lew Rubin.

The fundraiser event is designed to proliferate the arts in the Scotts Valley community. The money raised during the evening will help support the 2011 SVPA season, including a fall production of Annie, Get Your Gun and the Youth Shakespeare spring workshop’s performance of The Tempest in July.

Tickets for the Broadway Cabaret are $20. Seniors and student ticket prices are $15 and can be purchased at the door or by visiting the SVPA website at svpaa.org. Ticket prices include light refreshments. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
