Patch Picks: Nonprofit Organizations Making a Difference

Scotts Valley nonprofits help young and old in a wide range of capacities.

Scotts Valley is a giving community, and the people who live here care about their neighbors. These are just a few of the nonprofit organization making a big difference in the community.

1. Children’s Outreach Inc. is a nonprofit sports group designed to help area youth with teamwork and skill building. The organization focuses mainly on soccer and lacrosse and helps those who have financial difficulty covering expenses for equipment and registration. 2. The Scotts Valley Educational Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded by a group of parents in 1983 to support the four local schools—Brook Knoll Elementary, Vine Hill Elementary, Scotts Valley Middle School and Scotts Valley High School. 3. Jordan House is a hospice organization serving Scotts Valley and Santa Cruz County. Its mission is to provide compassionate Christian Care for the terminally ill. The vision of Jordan House is to provide a clean, safe, loving Christian environment in a home-like setting where the terminally ill can receive full-time care, regardless of race, creed or economic status. 4. Center for Animal Protection and Education is a nonprofit animal advocate organization whose mission is bringing animals and humans together in peaceful coexistence. Its goals are to educate people about how animals integrate into society. The organization provides sanctuary for homeless animals and offers humane education programs to the community. 5. ETR Associates, is a multifaceted nonprofit organization whose purpose lies on improving the health and well being of individuals, families and communities.
