Second Annual 'Mamas Night Out' Fundraiser Brings Much Needed Dough to Cookies for Kids' Cancer

The event was sold out as more than 350 women came out to support pediatric cancer research.

The second annual ‘Mamas Night Out’ event at the top of the Rittenhouse in Santa Cruaz on Saturday night brought 350 women together to play and fundraise.

With pretty appetizers on plates and drinks in hand, groups of women settled down to reflect on what the event was all about. Organizers Michelle Riddle of Scotts Valley and Cara Pearson of spoke to the crowd about the fight against pediatric cancer. The mood was somber during an emotional film presentation as moms shared their own incomprehensible experience of trying to cope with their child’s cancer.

The message was clear: “There is a direct correlation between increasing research dollars and decreasing mortality rates. Fighting cancer is something no child should have to endure and no child should have to lose their fight because of lack of support,” said Gretchen Holt-Witt, founder of Cookies for Kids' Cancer.
