Sweet Dreams: Family Opens Cupcake Shop

Cutesy Cupcakes will start serving treats in the Scotts Village Shopping Center in November.

A family's passion in the kitchen will soon translate to a storefront in Scotts Valley.

Cutesy Cupcakes is opening in the Scotts Village Shopping Center, at 245v Mount Hermon Road.

Mom Janeen, daughter Jeanette, and granddaughter Lacey have been baking together since Jeanette and Lacey finished culinary school, according to the company website. The trio, from Santa Cruz, began working out of a commercial kitchen to fill orders for events, weddings and restaurants.

They signed a lease for the Scotts Valley shop in the summer and have been hard at work to get the space ready. Updates on the Cutesy Cupcake Facebook page chronicle the effort, and tease customers with colorful photos of delicious-looking cupcakes.

The menu includes treats like White Delight—white cake with a choice of cream cheese frosting, buttercream frosting, fudgy ganache or chocolate buttercream frosting—and Cinn-Full Cinnamon, cinnamon cake with cinnamon cream cheese frosting. The most popular cupcake is Red Velvet.

The bakers work hard to be a "kind company" by using humane-certified eggs from Glaum Egg Ranch in Aptos and cream cheese that is not made with rennet to have the "most favorable impact on animal welfare," according to the company website.
