Tree-Lighting Kicks off Holidays at Hillsdale Shopping Center

The tree-lighting ceremony will take place Friday evening.

A variety of holiday events will take place at Hillsdale Shopping Center this year, starting with the annual tree-lighting ceremony Friday evening.


WHAT:                  Hillsdale Shopping Center is the perfect place to start and finish holiday shopping, while enjoying a variety of festivities celebrating the season. This hub for holiday activity will be home to Santa who will greet children and even take photos with family pets on special days. Several other festivities will take center stage during November and December including a Meet & Greet with Dr. Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat,” Santa Cookie Nights, balloon twisters, a Broadway performance from “The Lion King” and more. Also, watch stories from the holiday classics “A Christmas Carol,” “The Nutcracker,” and “The Nightmare Before Christmas” unfold in animated Santa set windows.


WHEN:             Tree Lighting Ceremony & Disney’s “The Lion King” Performance

                        Friday, November 16, at 5:30 p.m.

SHN will host a live musical performance from Disney Presents “The Lion King” at this annual tree lighting ceremony that will welcome Santa to the shopping center and officially open the holiday season.



Photos with Santa

Friday, November 16 – Monday, December 24 

Santa will greet children and pose for digital photos that will be available for purchase. Shoppers will also enjoy a special gift with purchase.


KQED Dr. Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat” Character Meet & Greet

Saturday, November 17, at 9 a.m. 

Children are invited to meet Dr. Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat” from the new PBS series based on the children’s classic book “Dr. Seuss” who will greet fans and pose for photos.

Pet Photos with Santa

Sunday, November 18 – Wednesday, December 12, from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. (Wednesdays and Sundays)

Families are welcome to bring their furry friend for photos with Santa.


Santa Cookie Night

Monday, November 19 – Tuesday, December 11, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. (Mondays and Tuesdays)

Children visiting Santa on these evenings will receive free tasty nibbler cookies from Mrs. Fields Cookies.

I know people have varying opinions about when to start celebrating "the holidays," but I always say the sooner the better! Can't wait for the tree lighting tomorrow.
