Get Out: Your Guide to What's Happening This Weekend

Here are some of our picks for a fun-filled weekend.

Scotts Valley Artisans Opens in New Location

Where/When: Scotts Valley Artisans, 230-D Mt. Hermon Road. Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Sundays, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

What: Scotts Valley Artisans is the place to go to find beautiful pieces of art created by local artists. The store showcases a wide variety of items, including jewelery, paintings, pottery, and wood working. On Friday, the store will be open in its new location with even more artists and works to check out.

Falcons Basketball

Where/When: Harbor High School, 300 La Fonda Ave., Santa Cruz. Friday, boys’ varsity, 5:30 p.m.; girls’ varsity, 7 p.m.

What: Basketball season is in full swing for the Falcon boys’ and girls’ teams. Friday will be a double-header with back-to-back games from both Falcon varsity teams, so head to Santa Cruz and show your support for SVHS sports.

Roaring Camp Rain Forest Weekends

Where/When: Roaring Camp, 5401 Graham Hill Rd., Felton. Saturday and Sunday, various times.

What: Take an exciting ride on an antique steam train through California’s forest of coastal redwoods. As you sit back and enjoy the scenery, fascinating information about forest ecology and seasonal changes will be given.

Cost: Tickets are $24 for adults and $17 for children, and can be purchased at www.roaringcamp.com.

Where/When: City of Scotts Valley Community Center, 360 Kings Village Rd. Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. 

Why Go: The weekly open-air market includes fresh organic fruit, vegetables, flowers, coffee and pastries, seafood, meat and eggs, showcasing the best in fresh-grown fruits and vegetables and local foods. Come out and shop and mingle with your fellow residents.
