Nutritionist to Give Free Lecture at Library

Rechenmacher will talk about ways to 'Eat Yourself Healthy.'

Local nutritionist and Food for Life instructor Sandi Rechenmacher will give a presentation at the Scotts Valley Library focusing on the “latest cutting-edge nutrition science.” The informative, “Eat Yourself Healthy,” talk is free and open to the public.

Rechenmacher, who has been a nutrition consultant in Santa Cruz for many years, is also a representative for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a non-profit organization that promotes preventative medicine through many initiatives, including reforms of federal nutrition policies.

“My topic is called, ‘Eat Yourself Healthy,’ because you really can. There is so much great nutrition news out there now,” Rechenmacher said. “Over the last 100 years, the diet has changed so dramatically, not just food, but lifestyle. My lecture explains all of that.”

In her presentation, Rechenmacher said she will “discuss nutrition's wild ride over the past 100 years, revealing myths, assumptions, and urban legends that are leading Americans toward otherwise avoidable chronic diseases.”

Rechenmacher will offer those who attend new recipes, resources and materials for taking the steps necessary to begin living a healthy life.
