Rain's Back – 'Very Slippery Roadways' Warning
The National Weather Service says rain is likely to spread across the Bay Area today, Monday, with more possible through Wednesday. The agency warned of "very slippery roadways" since it's the first significant rain of the season.
Bay Area drivers should exercise extra caution because the rain forecast for today, Monday, could be the first significant rainfall of the season and thus will cause extra slippery roadways, the National Weather Service said.
Rain is forecast to spread through the area today, with the possibility of further, off-and-on showers through Wednesday.
The weather service also warned of dangerous driving conditions in a "Hazardous Weather Outlook":

"MOTORISTS ARE URGED TO USE CAUTION AS THIS FIRST SIGNIFICANT RAIN OF SEASON FOR MUCH OF THE AREA WILL RESULT IN LEACHING OUT OF LONG-ACCUMULATED OILS IN THE PAVEMENT...AND THUS VERY SLIPPERY ROADWAYS."
While rainfall totals in Scotts Valley aren't expected to be more than a quarter inch, Highway 17 will be slick all week, and much of the bay area will get over an inch on Monday.
