Update: Highway 17 Open after Rockslide Closure

One lane was closed on southbound 17 between Los Gatos and Scotts Valley.

Update 4 p.m.: All lanes are open on 17 following the slide, but rush hour traffic is set to hit.

Original Story: A rockslide has closed a lane of southbound state Highway 17 near Los Gatos this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol and Caltrans.

The rockslide prompted the lane closure at 10 a.m. near Laurel Road, about five miles south of Los Gatos, Caltrans officials said.

The lane is expected to reopen around 2 p.m., according to Caltrans.

We live off of Scotts Valley Drive. There is a person that drives up and down Scotts Valley DriveRead More quite often. He has a dog that rides in the back of his pickup truck. The dog barks as he is riding and sounds like he is just in heaven going for those rides. We want to tip our hat to this man for being such a good dog parent. We look forward to hearing those barks of excitement for many moons to come. Right on sir! And keep on being the good parent you are.
