Scotts Valley Library Kicks Off New Year With Free Poetry Workshop

The workshop, held for writers of all backgrounds, begins on Jan. 19.

Have a New Year’s Resolution to unleash your inner creativity?

Santa Cruz County Libraries are here to assist -- for free -- with a series of poetry writing workshops taught by Magdalena Montagne, a local poet and teacher.

A class takes place at the Scotts Valley Library the third Saturday of every month from 2 to 4 p.m. starting on January 19 and stretching until June 15.

Montagne has been leading poetry workshops for over ten years, often to students who have never written a poem before.

“I have been discovering my voice in poetry ever since enrolling in Magdalena’s workshop and really, really loving it,” a student in one of her classes wrote. “Magdalena has a welcoming spirit that allows for self-expression, experimentation and artful crafting.”

We live off of Scotts Valley Drive. There is a person that drives up and down Scotts Valley DriveRead More quite often. He has a dog that rides in the back of his pickup truck. The dog barks as he is riding and sounds like he is just in heaven going for those rides. We want to tip our hat to this man for being such a good dog parent. We look forward to hearing those barks of excitement for many moons to come. Right on sir! And keep on being the good parent you are.
