The Scotts Valley Police Department is offering three week-long sessions of its Junior Police Academy this summer for 6th, 7th and 8th graders.
The sessions are scheduled June 24 to June 28, July 15 to July 19, and Aug. 5 to Aug. 9, according to a department web page. Each session will have room for 20 students.
The Junior Police Academy functions as the police department's in-house Police Activities League program, police said. The department has offered the program since 2000.
"It provides students with alternatives to drugs, violence, and other illegal activities through exciting events and educational programs," police said.
Seagate Technology is sponsoring this year's Juvenile Police Academy sessions, police said.
