Watch Santa Cruz City 2013 Mayor Hilary Bryant and American Idol rocker James Durbin compete along with other local business and community leaders, musicians, and athletes in the inaugural Hardwood Celebrity Classic presented by New Leaf Community Markets and Allterra Solar. All proceeds benefit Grind Out Hunger, a local nonprofit that provides healthy meals for kids and local families.
The fun evening features a basketball game (see list of players below), in-game entertainment, half-time show featuring the Santa Cruz Warriors’ mascot Mav’riks, Tess Dunn singing the National Anthem, and more.

Players include: Santa Cruz City 2013 Mayor Hilary Bryant, rocker James Durbin, New Leaf Community Markets' founder Scott Roseman, Allterra CEO James Allen, former Mayor and candidate for Third District County Supervisor Ryan Coonerty, Ow Gallery owner William Ow, Penny Ice Cream owner Zach Davis, Downtown Association Director Chip, KSBW Action News 8 Anchor Dale Julin, Showbiz of the 102.5 KDON Morning Madhouse Reggie Stephens, and Jason Williams of Cruzmatik, Boardwalk Bombshells Liv N LetDie and Hell Louise, and more. MMA fighter Josh Thompson will also be playing in the game; his participation will be covered by Fox Network as a part of the sports documentary, Road to the Octagon, which follows six fighters as they train, spar, and live their lives leading up to their fight. Footage will air mid-January.

Grind Out Hunger is a Santa Cruz based non-profit which exists to empower the youth by utilizing their passion for action sports and music to take leadership in the fight against childhood hunger and malnutrition. Since 2004, Grind Out Hunger has worked directly with the youth throughout Santa Cruz County to raise food and funds totaling over 2 million meals for local families in need. Grind Out Hunger Headquarters is located on 41st Avenue in the Pleasure Point area of Santa Cruz.
