Get Out: Your Guide to What's Happening This Weekend

Wine tasting, volunteering and shopping are all on the agenda for the weekend in Scotts Valley.

Where/When: San Agustin Catholic Church, 257 Glenwood Dr., Scotts Valley. Friday, Nov. 18, 4-8 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 19, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

What: This weekend is the time when people start thinking about Christmas shopping and what better way to start crossing things off your list than by supporting the local community. The vendor showcase is like “20 house parties at once.” This event will bring together people who are direct sales representatives and local artisans for one big showcase. The event will feature Scentsy, Princess House, Tupperware, PartyLite, Willow House, Miche Bags, Arbonne, Silpada Designs and many more, as well as jewelry, clothing and other custom artworks.

Price: Admission is free. Items will be for sale at various prices.

Where/When: Scotts Valley Library, 251 Kings Village Rd. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2 p.m.

What: Local poet/teacher Magdalena Montagne will be at the library leading a free writing workshop for the community. In the poetry circle, students will write new works in a supportive and fun environment. All levels and ages are encouraged to attend.

Where/When: Glenwood Preserve, Glenwood Drive and Canham Road, Scotts Valley. Sunday, Nov. 20, 9 a.m.-noon.

What: The Land Trust of Santa Cruz County is looking for volunteers to help replace a grove of eucalyptus trees at the city of Scotts Valley-owned Glenwood Preserve with live oak trees by planting acorns. Skov Winery Zinfandel Port Release and Olive Oil tasting

Where/When: Skov Winery, 2364 Bean Creek Rd, Scotts Valley. Saturday, Nov. 19, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

What: Skov Winery will be releasing its new Zinfandel Port with an afternoon filled with wine and fun. Along with wine tasting, the winery will also have an olive oil and vinegar tasting from The True Olive Connection. A Silpada representative will also be on hand showcasing sterling silver jewelry for sale.

This is also a Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Passport Day. Bring your passport, or buy one at the winery for $40, and wine tasting is included. The passports are good at all participating wineries. There is a $5 tasting fee without the passport, which is waived with wine purchase.
