New Playground Unveiled at Brook Knoll

Play area will be used for special needs students.

It was all smiles on Friday as a new adaptive playground area was unveiled at Brook Knoll Elementary School.

The playground, funded by the Scotts Valley Educational Foundation, is for the district’s new pre-kindergarten special education class. By law, school districts are required to provide educational support programs for special needs students from the time they are 3 until they reach 22, according to Allison Niday, president of SVEF.

“Many of these students need special equipment for play that supports their physical and emotional challenges,” Niday said.
