Anti-DUI Crusaders Awarded for Prosecuting Dangerous Drivers

Assistant District Attorneys Alex Byers and Jennifer Hutchinson were awarded this week.

For consistently prosecuting drunk driving offenders with outstanding results over the last year, Assistant District Attorneys Alex Byers and Jennifer Hutchinson were each given an award this week.

On April 9, Byers and Hutchinson were presented with the award from the California Office of Traffic Safety, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and the Monterey/San Benito/Santa Cruz County AVOID Campaign

The results of Byers's and Hutchinson's cases are a testament to the strict enforcement of local CHP, Capitola, Scotts Valley, Watsonville and Santa Cruz police departments as well as the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office, DA Bob Lee said Friday.

Between April 8-10 alone, Santa Cruz County Jail records show 22 people were booked for DUI.
