Boulder Creek Man Arrested In Friday Morning Peninsula Bank Robbery

Douglas Taylor, of Boulder Creek, entered the Wells Fargo Bank at 1900 Broadway at about 9:30 a.m., and presented a note to a bank employee demanding money.

An alert team of employees at a Redwood City bank helped police in the arrest of a 55-year-old unarmed man attempting to rob the downtown bank Friday morning. 

According to Lieutenant Sean Hart of the Redwood City Police Dept., the suspect, Douglas Taylor, of Boulder Creek, entered the Wells Fargo Bank at 1900 Broadway at about 9:30 a.m., and presented a note to a bank employee demanding money. 

Hart said the the employee began retrieving currency for the suspect and was able to alert another bank employee who called 911 and reported a robbery in progress. Officers responded to the bank and established a perimeter around the bank. 

The notifying employee maintained continual contact with Redwood City police dispatch and was able to provide continual updates, a description of the suspect and a specified direction of travel the suspect took when he left the bank.

Police say the timeliness and accuracy of the information provided by the bank employee allowed officers and detectives to take the suspect into immediate custody as he exited the bank without further incident. 

All currency provided by the bank was recovered.

Police say the suspect was not armed during the robbery and no injuries were reported by bank patrons or employees. The suspect was booked into the San Mateo County Jail for robbery.
