Boulder Creek Man Dies on Highway 35

The victim of the crash was not wearing a seat belt.

A Boulder Creek man died on Highway 35 Wednesday when his car went off the road and down a dirt embankment.

The victim, a 38-year-old man who has not yet been identified publicly by police, was driving just north of Summit Road at 12:10 a.m. when he the opposite lane and left the roadway, Officer Bradley Sadek said. 

It is unclear why he left his lane, but Sadek said the victim was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a part in the crash.

Police were notified of the crash by a passerby who noticed skid marks on the roadway and saw that a vehicle had gone over the embankment, according to the CHP.

With the roads dry from a warm Tuesday, weather was not a factor in the fatality.
