Early Morning Head-On Crash Blocks Highway 9 Traffic

Boulder Creek man taken to Valley Medical Center with major injuries.

A head-on crash involving a pickup truck and a van snarled traffic on Highway 9 early this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

One of the drivers, a 22-year-old Boulder Creek man, was taken by ambulance to Valley Medical Center. The other driver, a 57-year-old Brookdale man, had minor injuries.

The crash was reported at 5:37 a.m. near Teilh Drive, and both lanes of traffic were closed for more than an hour.

The southbound lane reopened around 6:55 a.m., and one-way traffic control was in effect.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and the CHP.
