Family Displaced in Early Morning Fire

Fire started in children's bedroom occupied by two young boys.

Scotts Valley Fire responded to a house fire on Mt. Hermon Road Friday morning that left a family displaced.

The fire started at approximately 7:40 a.m. in a children’s bedroom that was occupied with two young boys, according to Capt. Butch Theilen. Theilen said that a couch in the room caught on fire and that the fire was contained to the bedroom.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

“The boys woke up to what they said were weird noises and saw the fire,” Theilen said. “Everybody got out in time and there were no injuries.”

Theilen said that the Red Cross is currently assisting the family with housing at the moment.
