Flash Flood Warning In Effect For San Lorenzo River

Water is nearing 18 feet and on the verge of cresting over.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for the San Lorenzo River in Santa Cruz County just after 3 p.m. Thursday, a forecaster said.

The warning is expected to be in effect until about 5 p.m., forecaster Diana Henderson said.

Water in the San Lorenzo River is rising to just under flood stage, meaning it is nearing 18 feet and cresting over the sides of the river, Henderson said.

Forecasters expect water levels to start dropping at about 5 p.m., she said.

Those living along the river will be affected, Henderson said.

Others should stay away and pay attention to weather advisories.

“Don't go swimming," Henderson said.
