Major Crash Blocks Hwy 9; Two Trapped in Car

Two cars are blocking the intersection of Highway 9 and Bear Creek Road in Boulder Creek.

Update 11:36 a.m.: CHP Officer Sarah Jackson has confirmed that two people suffered "major injuries" in the crash. Both were trapped in a vehicle for an extended period of time.

Original Report: Multiple emergency crews have been called to a two-vehicle accident at Highway 9 and Bear Creek Road in Boulder Creek.

The road has been completely blocked at the intersection, CHP Officer Sarah Jackson said.

Concrete details have yet to emerge about the cause of the crash, Jackson said. But according to dispatchers, at 10:20 a.m., an SUV collided with another vehicle, blocking both lanes.

Dispatchers said that one person was trapped in the SUV while a passenger was able to exit the vehicle. The emergency crew requested a medical helicopter to transport one of the crash victims to a hospital, according to emergency radio traffic.

None of these details have been confirmed by the CHP yet, and the extent of the crash victims' injuries is unknown.

Anyone planning a trip on Highway 9 today should make alternate plans, at least through the morning as the scene is cleared.

We live off of Scotts Valley Drive. There is a person that drives up and down Scotts Valley DriveRead More quite often. He has a dog that rides in the back of his pickup truck. The dog barks as he is riding and sounds like he is just in heaven going for those rides. We want to tip our hat to this man for being such a good dog parent. We look forward to hearing those barks of excitement for many moons to come. Right on sir! And keep on being the good parent you are.
