Man Crashes Vehicle Into Boulder Creek Building

Police find 7 pounds of marijuana and a pound hashish in vehicle.

A Lompico man was arrested Thursday night after he allegedly fell asleep while driving and crashed his vehicle into a building, Santa Cruz County sheriff's officials said.

Deputies responded to 13155 Central Ave. in Boulder Creek at around 10:20 p.m. and found 20-year-old Austin Stiles standing near the crash site.

The sheriff's office said that Stiles told deputies he fell asleep behind the wheel.

A subsequent search of his car yielded about 7 pounds of marijuana, a pound of hashish, medications, and a scale and packing materials, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies said Stiles allegedly tried to destroy Methadone that he was carrying.

Stiles was arrested and booked into Santa Cruz County Jail on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale, possession of Methadone, probation violation, resisting arrest and possession of stolen property.
