UPDATE: Multiple Engines Race to Ben Lomond House Fire

The fire was reported about 9:20 a.m. April 8 at 808 Fanning Grade, a spokeswoman for the Ben Lomond Fire Department said.

Update 10:38 a.m. Fire damaged a home Monday morning on Fanning Grade in Ben Lomond northwest of Scotts Valley, but it could have been worse if not for an alert neighbor who heard a smoke alarm, the local fire chief said.

"No one was home and the neighbor reported it," Ben Lomond Fire Chief Stacie Brownlee said in a phone interview. "The neighbor heard a smoke alarm and called 9-1-1."

The fire was reported about 9:20 a.m. April 8 at 808 Fanning Grade, a spokeswoman for the Ben Lomond Fire Department said.

Fire crews arrived within seven minutes and "pretty much contained the fire to the living room" of the home, Brownlee said.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was being investigated.

Update 10:08 a.m. A dispatcher said flames were reportedly spreading throughout a house Monday morning on Fanning Grade northwest of Scotts Valley.

The fire was reported about 9:20 a.m. April 8 at 808 Fanning Grade, a spokeswoman for the Ben Lomond Fire Department said.

"RP wanting to kick down door," a dispatcher said in a call alerting fire crews to respond. "Flames are spreading throughout the house now, almost fully engulfed."

Posted 9:58 a.m. Multiple engine crews responded to a residential structure fire Monday morning in Ben Lomond northwest of Scotts Valley.

The fire was reported about 9:20 a.m. April 8 at 808 Fanning Grade, a spokeswoman for the Ben Lomond Fire Department said.

The fire was near the intersection of Fanning Grade and Waldeberg, according to a dispatcher for the incident.
