Red Ribbon Poster Contest Winners are Whisked Away by SWAT

Winners picked up at school by SVPD SWAT and treated to lunch at Bruno's BBQ.

Red Ribbon Week ended on a very exciting note for several Scotts Valley elementary and middle school students on Friday. The six students, winners of a poster contest sponsored by the , were picked up from school in the department’s SWAT vehicle and treated to lunch at .

The students all entered their anti-drug posters during the week to bring focus to the , which kicked off on Monday. Red Ribbon week is a national campaign, sponsored locally by the SVPD, to bring awareness to the importance of living a drug-free lifestyle.

The poster contest was opened to Scotts Valley students in grades K-8. The grand prize winner received a $500 gift certificate to . The remaining finalists each received unlimited ride passes to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
