DUIs and petty theft top this week's crime log.

On Dec. 20 at 3:42 a.m. on Highway 17 at Vine Hill Road—Officers responded to a crash on Highway 17. Both the driver and passenger displayed signs of intoxication. California Highway Patrol arrested the driver of suspicion of driving under the influence and the passenger for public intoxication.

On Dec. 18 at 1:17 p.m. on Cadillac Drive—Officers contacted a person at the scene of a solo-vehicle crash. The person provided false information to officers. The person admitted to driving the vehicle, displayed signs of intoxication and was arrested.

On Dec. 17 at 6:50 p.m. on Mt. Hermon Road—A man was seen leaving a store with merchandise without paying. The store employee checked the video surveillance but was unable to get a clear description of the man. The loss was valued at $46.

On Dec. 17 at 12:06 a.m. on Baja Sol Court—Officers responded to a 911 hang-up call and found an intoxicated woman outside the home. The woman was confrontational and unsteady on her feet. She was arrested, restrained, medically cleared and later booked into the county jail.

On Dec. 16 at 11:36 p.m. on Whispering Pines Drive—Officers contacted a driver at the scene of a traffic collision. She was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested and booked into the county jail.

On Dec. 16 at 8:56 p.m. on Bean Creek Road—A man was contacted by officers and was found to have a warrant. He was arrested and booked into the county jail.

On Dec. 16 at 8 a.m. on Bean Creek Road—A Scotts Valley Middle School student passed a counterfeit $20 bill at the snack bar of the middle school. The bill was discovered two days later when the money was being counted.

On Dec. 14 at 8:38 p.m. on Mt. Hermon Road—An unknown person passed a $100 counterfeit bill and attempted to pass a second without success.

On Dec. 14 at 7:47 p.m. on Mt. Hermon Road—A person was arrested for shoplifting at Safeway. He was also found to have an Oregon warrant. He was cited and released for the warrant and the petty theft.

On Dec. 14 at 12:12 a.m. on Hacienda Drive—A store clerk refused to sell alcohol to a man, who then became upset and started an argument. The man spat at the clerk and hit him in the face.

On Dec. 13 at 6:24 p.m. on Mt. Hermon Road—A driver was arrested and booked into county jail after driving on a suspended license and for being in violation of probation terms regarding alcohol.

On Dec. 13 at 4:19 p.m. on Scotts Valley Drive—A vehicle was stopped for the driver being in violation of the hands-free cell phone law. The driver was booked for an outstanding warrant.
