Police Cite Businesses For Selling Alcohol to Minors

Stores face fines and community service.

Five local liquor store clerks were cited by the Scotts Valley Police Department for selling alcohol to minors on Friday.

As part of a decoy operation funded by a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, officers visited nine businesses and had an underage decoy attempt to purchase alcohol at each location, according to police.

The stores that sold alcohol to the minor face a minimum fine of $250 and up to 32 hours of community service for the violations.
