Santa Cruz Sheriff Asking Public's Help in Locating Another Missing Person

The young man was last seen camping at Henry Cowell State Park.

UPDATE: At-risk missing person Gabriel Lorette-Smith has been located.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's office is asking for the public's help in locating 22-year-old Gabriel Lorette-Smith.

Smith, a student at San Jose State University, was last seen camping in Henry Cowell State Park southwest of Scotts Valley.

Lorette-Smith graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High School in Felton in 2010. He currently lives in San Jose, according to sheriff's deputy April Skalland.

Anyone with information on Lorette-Smith's whereabouts is asked to call the Santa Cruz Sheriff at (831) 471-1121.

This is the second missing person search in Henry Cowell this month. Matthew Abraham, 20, disappeared from his Scotts Valley home last week after suffering a head injury while mountain biking. The search focused on Henry Cowell because Abraham had been talking about the park, but Abraham had actually boarded an eastbound bus. He was found safe at Salt Lake City Public Library on Friday.

We live off of Scotts Valley Drive. There is a person that drives up and down Scotts Valley DriveRead More quite often. He has a dog that rides in the back of his pickup truck. The dog barks as he is riding and sounds like he is just in heaven going for those rides. We want to tip our hat to this man for being such a good dog parent. We look forward to hearing those barks of excitement for many moons to come. Right on sir! And keep on being the good parent you are.
