Scotts Valley Businesses are Burglarized

Police are not sure if two burglaries and one attempted burglary are connected.

are asking the public for help in identifying a truck involved in an attempted burglary at Walgreens.

On Tuesday at approximately 4:38 a.m., an unidentified truck backed into the front sliding glass doors of on Mt. Hermon Road, causing major damage to the doors, according to the SVPD. The truck then left the area.

Police said that it appears nothing was taken and no entry into the building was gained. An ATM machine near the front doors appears to have been the target of the theft.

Surveillance video from Walgreens shows the truck being a white panel work truck with a white bumper and unknown color ladder rack.

Shortly after the attempted burglary at Walgreens, a burglary occurred at on Scotts Valley Drive. According to Lt. John Hohmann, the door to the store appeared to be kicked in and the cash drawer was taken.

Nearly a week earlier, on May 23 at approximately 5 a.m., Ace Hardware on Mt. Hermon Road was also burglarized. Hohmann said that in that case it appears a rear roll-up door was damaged and that it appeared a vehicle had backed into it. Several chainsaws were taken from the store.

“We don’t know for sure if they are connected but it is suspicious,” Hohmann said.

Hohmann added that police have no information on the type of vehicle used in the Ace Hardware or U-Save Liquor burglaries.

Police are asking that anyone with information about these burglaries or information that would help identify the truck involved in the Walgreens burglary contact the SVPD at 831-440-5670.
