Scotts Valley Man Re-Arrested on New Child Molestation Charges

A second victim has come forward in the David Escobar child molestation case.

The Scotts Valley man arrested last week for molesting a Santa Cruz teenage girl was arrested a second time on Thursday after a second victim came forward.

David Escobar, 42, was originally for allegedly engaging in sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl.

According to Santa Cruz Police, Escobar sent nearly 3,800 text messages to the Santa Cruz girl in one month and also communicated with her through Facebook and gaming networks. The SCPD said it also appears that Escobar arranged to meet the girl at her school during lunch on several occasions and would have sex with her in his car.

After news of Escobar’s arrest, another victim came forward. According to KION, Escobar was re-arrested in the 200 block of Benito Avenue Thursday and charged with several counts of sex crimes against a minor and possessing child pornography.

Escobar is scheduled to be arraigned on the first charges on April 9.
