Severe Traffic on Mt. Hermon Road Due to Power Outage

Significant delays are expected until at least 7 p.m. SVPD says.

A power outage that occurred late Thursday afternoon is causing severe traffic delays on Mt. Hermon Road. Scotts Valley Police say significant delays are expected until at least 7 p.m.

According to SVPD, the outage was due to a blown transformer near CVS and was widespread, taking out power along Mt. Hermon Road, Scotts Valley Drive and Glen Canyon, among other areas.

As of 4:30 p.m. most of the power has been restored except for along Mt. Hermon Road where the stop lights in front of CVS and Kmart where still out, leaving traffic backed up to Highway 17.

PG&E is currently working to correct the problem.

We live off of Scotts Valley Drive. There is a person that drives up and down Scotts Valley DriveRead More quite often. He has a dog that rides in the back of his pickup truck. The dog barks as he is riding and sounds like he is just in heaven going for those rides. We want to tip our hat to this man for being such a good dog parent. We look forward to hearing those barks of excitement for many moons to come. Right on sir! And keep on being the good parent you are.
