Sheriff's Office Warns Residents of New Phone Scam

Solicitors claiming to be with the Sheriff's Activity League and asking for money are scamming the public.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to be aware of a new scam that has popped up involving phone solicitors who claim to represent the Sheriff’s Activity League and ask for donations.

According to the sheriff’s office, the Sheriff’s Activity League is not soliciting donations over the phone.

The sheriff’s office advises county residents not to give money over the phone if someone claims to be from the Sheriff’s Activity League—and to only make donations to charities that you are familiar with or have researched.
