SVPD Announces Summer Junior Academy

Classes will be held over the summer for middle school boys and girls.

The Scotts Valley Police Department has announced plans for its Junior Police Academy, which will be offered this summer, thanks to a generous donation from Seagate Technology.

Three sessions will be held over the summer: June 13-17, July 11-15 and Aug. 1-5. Each session is limited to 20 students and is open to boys and girls entering the sixth, seventh and eighth grades.

According to the Scotts Valley Police Department, the program has been a huge success in past years. Students will gain knowledge and participate in a number of law-enforcement-related topics, including the history of the Scotts Valley Police Department, crime scene investigation, fingerprinting, physical agility, fire protection, self defense, patrol tactics and community service.
