SVPD to Host Motorcycle Safety Class
Learn safety and survival skills from current and former officers.
The Scotts Valley Police Officers Association will be hosting a Motorcycle Safety Training Course teaching everyday safety and survival skills for civilian riders.
Numerous skills will be covered, including:
- Nomenclature of Motorcycle
- Mounting/Dismounting of Motorcycle
- Raising a downed Motorcycle
- Stationary Shifting
- Straight-line start off
- Figure 8
- Offset cone weave
- 90-degree pull outs
- Defensive driving techniques
- Slow cone weave
- Controlled Braking
- Cone patterns
The class is on Saturday, July 6 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Scotts Valley High School, 555 Glenwood Dr. The cost is $250 and includes lunch, a t-shirt and a Certificate of Completion.

Participants are required to have a motorcycle, DOT helmet, glasses, full fingered gloves, ankle high boots, and must provide proof of M1 endorsement and auto insurance on the day of the class.
