Updated: More Than 1,000 Without Power Wednesday Morning

Cause of outage near the Santa Clara-Santa Cruz county border attributed to equipment failure, officials say.

Update: 1 p.m., Nov. 23: Power was restored to nearly 600 residents who were among more than 1,100 left without electricity early Wednesday morning due to equipment failure, PG&E officials are reporting.

The 572 residents who remained affected by the outage saw their power finally restored at 4:35 a.m, almost two hours after the blackout, said PG&E spokeswoman Monica Tell.

The cause of the outage appears to be equipment failure, although it is still under investigation, Tell said.
