The week started off on a rocking note with concert to benefit the music programs at Scotts Valley schools.

On Monday, , Tristan Pardee, who was in possession of approximately a quarter pound of methamphetamine, and is suspected of being a dealer. Officers later arrested three other people at Pardee’s Scotts Valley home who were under the influence of narcotics.

At the county level, the Board of Supervisors that will allow for renovations and development in the environmentally sensitive sandhills area just outside of Scotts Valley. A day later, the Scotts Valley City Council approved a similar plan for the sandhill areas in the city limits.

On Thursday, Assemblyman Bill Monning, who represents Scotts Valley, visited the to ranging from preserving the environment, to saving our school system, to breaking the budget gridlocks currently stalling government at the federal and state level.

It was an active week for the opponents of the controversial PG&E SmartMeters. On Wednesday, to discuss the issues surrounding the installation of the wireless meters and PG&E’s new opt out option.

On Friday, SmartMeter opponents held a protest at the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office where they took their protests to the next level for not enforcing the county’s moratorium on the installation of the meters. The group will soon file the necessary paperwork and begin collecting signatures to recall the sheriff.
