  • The Council will discuss adopting the League of California Cities Healthy Eating Active Living Resolution. According to studies provided by the League, “Society as a whole is faced with increased health care costs and diminished quality of life due to the epidemic of obesity and overweight individuals as a result of unhealthy eating and limited activity.” The League is encouraging cities to embrace policies that promote healthier lifestyles and communities. If the city adopts the resolution, it would forward it to the Scotts Valley Unified School District, Scotts Valley Parks and Recreation Department and the Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce to promote it.
  • The Council will consider re-designating Santa Cruz County as its Congestion Management Agency. This is a necessary first step in order for a possible measure to be put on the November ballot that would ask voters to increase vehicle registration fees by $10. The money would be used to fund some of the backlog of local transportation needs around the county. If the measure were to pass, Scotts Valley would receive approximately $115,000 annually to fund local road repairs and pedestrian projects.
