Now that my kids are out of school, and summer is near, I’ve been looking for fun and inexpensive things to do. We live in an area with so much natural beauty. I’ve comprised a list of some of my children’s favorite past times.

- San Lorenzo Valley Parks: Covered Bridge Park, Highlands Park, Ben Lomond Park, and Garrahan Park
- Swimming: , San Lorenzo Valley High School Pool, San Lorenzo Swim Center, San Lorenzo River, and Ocean
- State Parks: Big Basin, Henry Cowell Redwoods, Fall Creek, and Wilder Ranch
- State Beaches: Main Beach-Cowell, Seacliff, Capitola Beach, New Brighton, and Twin Lakes Beach
Also, don’t miss the Scotts Valley Fourth of July Parade and fireworks, or the Boulder Creek Fourth of July Parade. They both are good ol’ fashion fun!
Lastly, two of our area’s largest attractions are the Santa Cruz Beach & Boardwalk and Roaring Camp Railroad.
